Look no further! Here is an honest account of someone trying to overcome social anxiety.
I remember scouring the web when I was younger, searching for stories of people who have overcome social anxiety or who are in the process of trying to.
Yet there are very, very few examples.
The examples there are, are short and do not tell the complete story.
This is what I aim to do with this blog – I would like to spread some hope on the subject.
So join me as I try to overcome my social anxiety!
At the moment I am trying to face up to things through solo travel, if you want to witness an awkward, slightly dopey English boy try to navigate South East Asia on their own, look no further!

A month and a half into my travels, after using many blogs as a means of gathering insights for destinations whilst travelling, I had an idea to make my own.
But with a slight twist; it would be from a socially anxious person’s (my!) perspective, as the name of the website suggests.
So what is social anxiety?
Social anxiety is an excessive, persistent and irrational fear of being judged by others in social situations. A fear that often results in people avoiding any time of social interaction.
Whether it be talking to strangers, authority figures or even family members these situations can cause a great amount of anxiety.
The National Comorbidity Survey states that social anxiety is the third most common mental health condition in the world after depression and alcohol addiction.
The given advice is often well meant but empty, with people suggesting that you should, ‘just be yourself’, or, ‘fake it till you make it’. This advice is comforting but gives no plan of action. As a result, I found myself looking for ways in which I could actually build my confidence and resilience to overcome these feelings I have.
The aim of this blog is to share a honest account, with all the good and the bad, of somebody trying to address and overcome social anxiety disorder (SAD). Hopefully giving someone, somewhere some hope that there is a way!
